Economic Battle Strategy

A common factor in any war is an economic battle strategy. Here’s how it works; if opponent “A” can weaken the economy of opponent “B” – then opponent “A” will have a tremendous advantage and opponent “B” will be at their mercy.

Our adversary, the devil, knows this economic battle strategy all too well. He may not be able to convince us to join his side, but if he can lure us into financial debt it will create daily stress; fighting between husbands and wives; difficulties between parents and their children; a routine of working two and three jobs and living from paycheck to paycheck.

When the opportunity arises to help someone else in need it’s totally out of the question because you barely have what you need for yourself. The end result is children with no money for college; churches suffering from low support and parents who barely know their children because they’re working night and day and the list goes on and on. What an effective economic battle strategy to tear families apart.

We are barraged with temptations to spend our money every day. Advertisements confront us at every turn. You can’t read the newspaper or watch television without be blitzed by at least a dozen ads. But advertising is not the culprit here – there’s nothing wrong with a company advertising their products and services – that’s actually how most media is financed. The culprit here is YOU. You are the one who made the decision to live above your means. You may be thinking “I never made such a decision”… well, you did when you neglected to develop your own economic battle strategy.

God’s Word warns us about our adversary in 1 Peter 5:8 saying: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” If this roaring lion is eating up your finances a paycheck at a time – draw a line in the sand, today, and say “NO MORE!”. Then sit down with your spouse and begin to develop your own economic battle strategy. Don’t let the enemy weaken your family by controlling your finances another day.

Pray and ask God for help and wisdom. He’ll make you a great General in the war on finances.
